In the framework of the <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"527\">NexoTech Congress<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"552\">METRICA CHILE<\/strong> had the opportunity to talk to <strong data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"611\">Varinka Farren<\/strong>, Executive Director of HUB APTA and a reference in innovation led by women, about this key issue for the sustainable and inclusive development of the sector. <\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"819\">More female graduates, but few female leaders<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"1015\">Although more and more women are graduating from science and technology careers, their <strong data-start=\"900\" data-end=\"947\">presence in decision-making and leadership positions<\/strong> remains low. As Varinka pointed out during the podcast: <\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1198\">\n<p data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1198\">&#8220;We are just at the beginning. Although there has been progress, it is not enough. In five years, we went from 11% to 12.8% of scientific-technological companies led by women.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1200\" data-end=\"1366\">This figure, although positive, demonstrates the urgent need to continue promoting policies and practices that reduce the representation gap in the STEM ecosystem.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1368\" data-end=\"1371\">\n<h2 data-start=\"1373\" data-end=\"1416\">How can we transform this reality?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1527\">During the interview, Varinka highlighted some <strong data-start=\"1465\" data-end=\"1526\">key actions to empower more women in technology<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1529\" data-end=\"1571\">1. <strong data-start=\"1536\" data-end=\"1569\">Educate from an early age<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1572\" data-end=\"1754\">It is essential to incorporate inclusive references and language in the early years of education. Equity begins when <strong data-start=\"1692\" data-end=\"1753\">girls and boys grow up with the same vision of possibilities<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1756\" data-end=\"1822\"><strong data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1820\">Breaking cultural stereotypes and unconscious biases<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1823\" data-end=\"2012\">&#8220;I&#8217;m often asked how I get so much work done. I don&#8217;t know if men get asked that,&#8221; Varinka commented, underscoring the persistent stigmas women leaders face.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2014\" data-end=\"2062\">3. <strong data-start=\"2021\" data-end=\"2060\">Diversity as a driver of innovation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2277\">&#8220;The richness in generating better innovation is in diversity,&#8221; he said. Including people from <strong data-start=\"2155\" data-end=\"2227\">different regions, genders, socioeconomic backgrounds and education<\/strong> brings new perspectives and more complete solutions. <\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2279\" data-end=\"2355\">4. <strong data-start=\"2286\" data-end=\"2353\">Reformulate the composition of boards of directors and decision-making spaces.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2356\" data-end=\"2500\">Boards of directors are challenged not only to integrate women, but also to <strong data-start=\"2432\" data-end=\"2499\">promote a plurality of professions, experiences and contexts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2505\">\n<h2 data-start=\"2507\" data-end=\"2554\">What role do we play as technology companies?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"2556\" data-end=\"2805\">At METRICA, we believe that <strong data-start=\"2580\" data-end=\"2626\">innovation is not complete without inclusion<\/strong>.
