In this environment, understanding the intellectual property rights associated with the technologies they use is essential to preventing legal, financial, and reputational risks.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mt-6 mb-2 font-semibold text-2xl\" data-streamdown=\"heading-2\">What Is a Patent Troll?<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cPatent troll\u201d is a term commonly used to describe entities that acquire patent rights and primarily use them to demand licensing fees or pursue claims for alleged infringement, without manufacturing products or directly commercializing the patented technologies themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Terms such as Patent Assertion Entity (PAE) and Non-Practicing Entity (NPE) are also used in this context.
