METRICA Begins Measuring Its 2025 Carbon Footprint Using the GHG Protocol
At METRICA, we continue to strengthen our commitment to sustainability and the responsible management of our environmental impact. For the fourth consecutive year, we have launched the measurement of our Carbon Footprint, corresponding to the 2025 reporting year, following the internationally recognized GHG Protocol methodology.
This process enables us to identify and quantify the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with our activities, analyze their evolution, and obtain reliable information to continue progressing toward our emissions reduction goals.
But what exactly is the GHG Protocol, and why has it become a leading framework for companies worldwide?
What Is the GHG Protocol?
The GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) is an international framework for measuring and managing greenhouse gas emissions. It was developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
Its methodology provides companies and organizations with common criteria for accounting for and reporting their emissions in a structured and transparent manner.
Using this framework, organizations can better understand where their emissions come from, identify their main sources of environmental impact, and use this information as a starting point for developing effective emissions reduction strategies.
How Does the GHG Protocol Classify Emissions?
One of the key elements of the GHG Protocol is the classification of greenhouse gas emissions into three main categories, known as Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3:

- ⚡ Scope 2: Indirect emissions associated with the generation of energy purchased and consumed by the company, such as electricity.

Analyzing these three scopes provides a broader understanding of the relationship between business activities and their associated greenhouse gas emissions.

Four Years of Measuring Our Carbon Footprint
For METRICA, 2025 marks the fourth consecutive reporting year in which we have measured our Carbon Footprint.
Maintaining this process over time allows us to incorporate a long-term perspective into our environmental analysis, monitor our progress, and identify new opportunities for improvement.
